Was pretty hot\u2665\u2665\u2665\u2665\u2665\u2665back then, but I guess it's kind of ordinary 7(!) years later. Has an addictive scoring and ranking system, I'm gonna keep this one perma-installed.. If you really like trippy, psychedelic twin-stick shooter action, then this game is for you! I personally gave it a heavy "meh". It was fun but just not my style of game. It tries to be Geometry Wars all hopped up on Red Bull.. This had a game breaking graphical crash about 30 minutes into playing, it was totally unplayable in this state and it never self corrected(even the title\/menu screen was messed up). I've racked up over one hundred hours on the Xbox 360 version of this and it never crashed in any way ever.The nature of this game and it's design mean any significant instability is thoroughly ruinous, the score multiplier system and belt progression rely heavily on not dying at all. Perfect play really is key in this game, as such even if the crash was not permanent(until a shutdown and restart) it would still be game breaking...This was and always will be one of my favourite twin stick games of all time but not in this unstable state... What we have here is a bullet-hell game with a series of static single-screen levels. You start with three credits, and try to get as far as you can. The only powerups are a few different weapons and a score booster. The different weapons only last a few moments. The local co-op is cool, too.At first bootup, this feels quite dated, but the fun is absolutely still there. What's cool about this one compared to Nex Machina is that 1) you can run it on a toaster, and 2) it's a fraction of the price. Sadly there are no leaderboards, which can go along way for an arcade shooter like this. Pros:+Regardless of how old this is, the fun is absolutely still there+Simple to learn, difficult to master; very satisfying, too+Any twin-stick fan should have this in their library+Can run on a toasterCons:-No leaderboards-More modern versions of this have a bit more bells-and-whistlesFor five bucks, any twin-stick fan will have a ton of fun.. The graphics are adequate and the music is pretty unremarkable, but it does feature a power up system that keeps the gameplay somewhat interesting. The game does however seem to have a fairly mundane level design, and lacks the same sort of frenetic arena that Scoregasm offers. Although the game does have widescreen and Steam Overlay support, the co-op mode is unfortunately local only. In short, Mutant Storm Reloaded is an average entry into the genre, one that is worth grabbing if you catch it on sale, but otherwise there are better titles in the genre.
